Hopping the Pond

Brilliantly British

If there's one thing the Brits know, it's killer outerwear. The chilly, often rainy climate leaves those residing in the UK with the need to look stylish while they keep warm and dry. The Brits have perfected such staples as the trench, pea coat, field coat, blazer, and wellie. Joules, a three decade old British clothier, has jumped the pond to bring the US their stylish, functional pieces that are sure to become staples in your wardrobe. I was so excited to team up with my friends at Joules again to bring you my outerwear favorites for fall and upcoming winter.

FIELD JACKET
This field jacket is the perfect transitional day to night piece with it's fitted cut and gold hardware. I love that it's light-weight but still warm (sorry puffy coat you're cozy but make me look just that, puffy).

DOTTED WELLIES
These boots are just too cute. I love these for relaxed weekends paired with leggings or jeans, an oversized sweater, and latte in hand ready to conquer errands, a trip to the vineyard, or even posting up at your local coffee joint.

CLASSIC TRENCH
I love this bold, red trench. It's the perfect mix of traditional and ultra feminine. Pair this beauty with skinny jeans, or your favorite LBD and you're ready to roll.

TWEED JACKET
The cut, the fur, the... the... sigh. I adore this great play on the traditional tweed blazer. The fitted cut and removable collar (but why would you ever take the fur collar off, am I right?) make this the perfect cozy statement piece to liven up an outfit.

SLEEK WELLIES
Say it with me: sexy rubber boots. Did you ever think you would utter those words in the same sentence? But I assure you, these boots are just that. Sexy and sleek, the slick black sheen and gold hardware scream just scream polished and put together.

PEA COAT
This doesn't need much explanation, but you cannot go wrong with a navy pea coat with gold buttons. Care for this little lady, and you will have it for years to come. Name an outfit, you can top it with this coat.

Thanks to Joules for sponsoring today's post and inspiring us all to be Brilliantly British!

BAG:
Henri Bendel classic strip large cosmetic bag. I love this bag. I've had it for years because of it's perfect size, quality, and the inner and outer surface can be wiped down and for me that's crucial.

EYELINER:
This always sharp waterproof kohl liner from Smashbox is magical! The cap has a built in sharpener so yes it is ALWAYS sharp, and it stays put. No more raccoon eyes, no more reapplying mid day, this stays put!

POLISH:
I was skeptical of at home gel especially with the low price point and no UV curing process. However, Revlon has proved me wrong with their new gel line. It's only a two step process, and so far I have been loving the results.

BROWN PENCIL:
This brow tech to go is so so good. The crayon like consistency allows it glide on, and the slanted tip let's you shape those babies perfectly. There is also a wand with brow gel on the other end to keep you looking put together all night.

SPOT TREATMENT:
Yup those pesky breakouts still happen from time to time, but my bog Mario Badescu has you covered. For those big "oh my God how can anyone see my face around that huge zit" cystic type of pests, the buffering lotion is a God send.

The Power of Hello

There's something that no one ever really tells you about when you are growing up. It's something that comes so easy to us when we are young, but as soon as you get into your mid-twenties your realize gets harder and harder. I certainly wasn't prepared for how hard it would be to make friends post college, and it's something that I've struggled with for years. I have tried many things, and a lot of those things didn't return the results I was hoping for. So I had to try harder. I had to seek friends out. I had to make the initial move if you. I had to be the one to say "hello" first.

I wish I would have known then what I know now. That is really is as simple as hello or hi to make those new and great connections. Blogging has been one of those platforms where a simple tweet, comment, or like can create lasting friendships and connections. Lindt has launched their own sweet way to connect with their new line of chocolate flavors. The HELLO line from Lindt is sure to make every hello as sweet as can be. I love the little darlings because of their perfect little size that let me indulge without going overboard. The new flavors are to die for, especially the cookies and cream.

Lindt wants you to share a favorite hello story. Stop by here to share your story, and be entered in the Lindt Hello Sweet Connections Sweepstakes to win many more sweet prizes. Want more sweet stories? Click here to check out a special YouTube celebrity series of "hello" moments!

Thank you to Lindt for sponsoring today's post and inspiring me to try Lindt HELLO!

Wedding Crush

This post doesn't need much text or introduction because the pictures really speak for themselves. This isn't going to be a a habit, but I had to post about Lauren Conrad's wedding. She's my original girl crush, and everyone's favorite California girl. Her elegant, classic style was ever present in every detail captured in the photos. Anyway, I'm going to get to the pictures. Try not to drool too much.

Ugh. I just can't. So I won't ruin it with my babble. Well done on the nuptials, LC. Not that we expected anything less from the first lady of Laguna Beach.

Bendy Brunch Event

Exciting things are happening in the District! A great new yoga company, Grip the Mat, contacted me about their event this Sunday Bendy Brunch. I wanted to share the info plus a special promo code for my readers. Grip the Mat is a new concept to bring yoga practitioners together and cultivate a social community. This is such a great concept. What's better than grabbing a friend or two for a yoga class followed up by drinks, eats, and socializing with like-minded people? Check out Grip the Mat to find out what they are all about and to see when they will be holding more yoga/social events in the future.

The yoga class + brunch will be held at the Wonder Bread Factory (a very cool repurposed urban space) in Shaw at 641 S Street NW Washington, DC 20001, with two sessions being held at 10:30am and 1:30pm. You can register for the event here and use code "Lovelier" for $5 off the ticket price.

on my radar

Girl About Town

I'm working on being more put together when it comes to my super casual outfits, and this look is something that for me is very doable. The over-sized sweater is comfortable enough for running around, but is dressed up with a long necklace and black pants. These pants have the look and stretch of a legging, but with the structure of a pant (huge win for me). A classic leather tote is a little more formal than my huge keep all, and the booties tie it all together while being practical.
